Hello! Rife Magazine ceased publishing new work in July 2022.

We've kept the magazine online as an archive and hope you'll still continue to enjoy all of its contributions from the last 8 years.

The Rife Team

Jess’ Long and Winding Rife Journey

Group-Hero-2

Real life starts after Rife for Jess: she’s going to miss it all like mad. Let the feels begin.

So, we’ve come to the end of the Rife fairytale. The porridge is all eaten, the wicked witch has been defeated, and all that’s left to do is go home. We’ve had so many adventures, travelling across Bristol as a merry team – from those blissful, halcyon first days when we made our ‘Circle of Rife’ video and dressed Sammy in 50 band tees in the middle of town, to the office sing-a-longs, birthday cakes, selfies and extended lunch outings that have bonded us as a support group as well as a team of high-flying, butt-kicking young journalists.

Rife-2

This job has been completely amazing, and I’m so happy to have been a part of it, even for what feels like a short period of time. I’ve grown in ability and confidence so much in the last six months – I can already feel the difference that this opportunity has made and will continue to make on my life going forward.

There have been so many highlights. Telling the world to Stop Typing and Start Talking got my first month off to a flying start. Embarrassing myself through exercise Vines and a vlog about STIs forced me to get over my hatred of watching myself onscreen. And I found my niche in photo essays, getting deep into Bristol’s gory history at Halloween and teaming up with Bristol Pound. I’ve now got an awesome portfolio of work that I’m proud of.

Now then, enough of that. Get yourself a cup of tea, because the next bit is for your ears. Allow my dulcet tones to lull you for just over three minutes.

Thank you, Rife. It has been completely amazing, and now I need a hug.

Show Jess some love by following her on Twitter and Instagram and by saying hi if you see her in the street looking super miserable because she’s now officially an ex-Rifer.
