Hello! Rife Magazine ceased publishing new work in July 2022.

We've kept the magazine online as an archive and hope you'll still continue to enjoy all of its contributions from the last 8 years.

Discover five amazing events on Rife Guide this week, to keep you busy all through the Easter break.

Congrats, you’ve made it this far. You have successfully battled through the frosty weather, dragged yourself from beneath the duvet every morning at 7am and trudged to school or college in the dark. But now, you don’t have to. Welcome to OVER two weeks off. Spring has finally sprung, an extra hour of daylight is brightening our days and the sweet, sweet sunshine is upon us (or at least warmer weather). Bunnies are hopping, hot cross buns are toasting and chocolate eggs are consuming. If that wasn’t good enough already, Rife Guide have lovingly put together not one pick of the week, but five—so you have no excuse to not get out there and do something fun. Enjoy.

ONE

bear zac

Channel your inner Bear Grylls and sign up with Young Bristol’s National Citizenship Service. A once in a lifetime opportunity, the programme is spilt into 4 phases, the first one starting in the Lake District from 4th April. Experience adrenaline pumping activities and forge new friendships in a beautiful setting over 200 miles away from home. What’s not to like?

TWO

chicken

If the weather isn’t quite as glorious as you were hoping, then head to the Watershed.  Wallace and his sidekick canine Grommit feature in ‘The Curse of the Were Rabbit’, followed by the utterly hilarious ‘Chicken Run’. If Aardman films aren’t your thing, then catch the masterfully engineered thriller ‘Disorder’, stop-motion ‘Anomalisa’ or heist thriller ‘Victoria’.  Anyone aged 24 and under can get £4.50 tickets any day, any time.

THREE

big bang

Fancy a free day out to At-Bristol for you and 4 to 5 of your mates, free lunch on the day and free cinema tickets to use whenever you want? Well, it isn’t quite as good as that but not far off. At-Bristol want groups of friends aged 12–16 for a series of Focus groups. Help them make At-Bristol better by sharing your experiences, thoughts and opinions. You don’t need to have gone before. To find out more about the At-Bristol Focus groups, email Andrew: andrew.knight@at-bristol.org,uk or David: david.judge@at-bristol.org.uk

FOUR

ralph

Build the future at Bristol’s first ever Buildcon. If having your own robot seems like a vision of the future then dream no more, you can now make your own. Show off your minecraft skills, climb to the top of the ladder in giant Jenga and get involved in the Skins and Characters Development workshop. The two-day workshop is at Knowle West Media Centre and completely free for anyone aged 19 and under.

FIVE

gardening

Get your fingers green and your hands dirty with this Creative Careers course in Planter Design and Gardening from Creative Youth Network. Learn about garden design, growing plants and flowers and wood-work while upcycling and getting the power tools out. The course is every Thursday and Friday for four weeks from 7th April and taught by an award winning Gardner.

So what are you up to this Easter break? Show us your outings in the sunshine, your trips around Bristol or the nest you’re hibernating in on TwitterFacebook and Instagram.
