The Top Moments Of E3 2014 (Tech)

It’s finally here, E3 2014! For those of you who don’t know what E3 is, what the hell? – Seriously though, it is the biggest gaming event in the world. Top companies like Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, EA, Ubisoft and more do live presentations and show off demos of games they have been working on for years. Im not going to cover absolutely everything because you’d be sat here for days.

If you want to skip to the content you want to see click below:

 Microsoft – XBOX

If you don’t follow E3, let me speed you up, Microsoft’s 2013 event was the worst thing I, and millions, have ever seen. Millions of fans were heartbroken and disappointed by Microsft and Xbox. They even lost fans to Sony (Guilty). This year however they have made huge improvements.

Phil Spencer (Head of Microsoft’s Xbox) takes to the stage and introduces the Xbox event, before going on to thank customers for shaping Xbox after so many complaints from last year’s announcements. He then says he’s dedicating the entire event to games. Last year, they focused the Xbox around TV and how your Xbox will be your entertainment system. Worst thing they could have done. Terrible idea. It got to a point where, when they announced the Xbox One and prices, no one in the audience clapped and they got booed. Yeah, that’s how bad it was.

They open with ‘Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ and explained how they are having all the DLC (downloadable content) first again.

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare

COD has been around for years now, god knows what number they are on now. They can never beat ‘Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’. Ever since this game, it has gone downhill and people who have been playing it from the start have started to move onto other FPS (First Person Shooter) games like ‘Battlefield’. This new COD, however, looks like it has great potential. It looks futuristic and with the new boost pack, it looks like the gameplay is going to be refreshing, especially online.

Dan Greenawalt from Turn 10 Studios hits the stage and talks about ‘Forza Motorsport’. He says almost every week, a million people are playing ‘Forza’. He announces the Nurburgring DLC, the most iconic race track in the world, is now available as a free add-on and it is at millimeter accuracy. If you have a Xbox One and Forza, what are you waiting for, start downloading it.

Ralph Fulton from Forza comes on and they announce ‘Forza Horizon 2’. It has dedicated servers, dramatic weather, open world freedom and it’s in 1080p.

Sunset Overdrive

Ted Price from Insomniac Games talks about ‘Sunset Overdrive’. This game looks really cool. It reminds me of ‘Jet Set Radio’ except you have guns. It’s about an infected drink that humans drank and it mutated them. In the trailer the hero says that YOU are going to be the hero and save the world. It’s co-op up to 8 players.

You can even set up a playlist to play any level from any game in any order you want and it works seamlessly! They go on to confirm that the ‘HALO 2’ version in this amazing bundle is going to be ‘HALO 2’ anniversary. If you don’t know, the original ‘HALO’ hit its 10th year anniversary and 343 Studios has remastered it in HD. ‘HALO 2’s 10th year anniversary is this year. ‘HALO 2’ multiplayer is returning exactly how it shipped 10 years ago. The whole collection comes with 100 maps and ships with 4,000 gamer score. Not only this, all of the games run on there original engines all at 1080p at 60fps!!!!!!! FTW!!!! Not only this, they are including ‘HALO Nightfall’, which is a digital series that leads right up to ‘HALO 5’. NOT ONLY THIS, THEY WILL INCLUDE THE ‘HALO 5 GUARDIANS’ BETA!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah that’s right, ‘HALO’ is my favorite game. I remember when the original ‘HALO’ came out, I was 10!

Sony – Playstation

Sony’s 2013 event was amazing, they had the crowed whooping and everything they announced was just great. I’m saying this, and I hated Sony, I never even owned a single PlayStation item. Until I bought a PSVITA and PS4. I was a hardcore Xbox fan boy. But I made the switch, since Microsoft tried to screw me over last year with their event.

Let’s see what Sony have to offer this year!

They opened strongly with ‘Destiny’. Andrew House (CEO of Sony Entertainment) talks about the PS4 and ‘Destiny’ and how PlayStation is the better console and how ‘Destiny’ will be better on PS4. He said, ‘They will be the first and the best’. What they mean is, they will get DLC first and betas first. 17/7/14 is when the beta is available and if you can’t wait for that, this Thursday 11/6/14, you can play the first look alpha. This is exclusively for ALL PlayStation users. Also, a exclusive ’Destiny’ PlayStation (in white with 500GB storage, controller and 30-day PS plus) bundle will be available on 9/9/14 when the game is released. Not only this, on the release of the game, they will have exclusive DLC.

No Man’s Sky

Sean Murray from Hello Games announces ‘No Man’s Sky’.

This game is insane. What they showed was a person on a planet surrounded by creatures getting into a spaceship and flying off the planet into space, having a mini battle in space and then landing on a completely different planet. I’ve never known a game where you can leave a planet freely and fly into space, roam around until you can find another planet to land on. Simply amazing.

They have literally created a universe. He stated it’s an ‘infinite universe that everyone can share’ and went on to say, ‘we’re going to start every single player on a different planet. No two people will have the same experience’… My mind is absolutely blown if this is the case. He said, ‘The world is infinite, and we don’t even know what’s out there. Every player who picks up a pad and starts playing will help us know what out there’. Seriously just watch this, I’m absolutely speechless.

Andrew House spoke about lots of little things. He started talking about the PS4 hardware, he took the mickey out of Xbox, saying that the PlayStation camera was sold separately from the start. For those who don’t know, Xbox forced its users to buy an Xbox One with a Kinnect, and have since removed it from the box and is now trying to sell the Xbox cheaper at the same price as the PlayStation. He then talks about ‘Project Morpheus’. Which is basically a PlayStation version of ‘Oculus Rift’.

They are also brining the YouTube app to PS4 and you will be able to share content directly with to your Youtube account. 25 Free games are coming to PSN. Also PS Now will open for BETA on 31/7/14 for US and Canadian users. PS Now is where you can stream FULL games. Sony even said, if you don’t own a PlayStation console, if you own a Sony smart TV, all you need to do is buy a PlayStation controller and you can stream it directly from your TV.

PlayStation TV is coming soon as well. This will allow you to play your PS4 games on a different TV in your house. You can stream music and lots of other cool things.

This seems like a really cool concept. You shoot ink on floors and walls and once you have marked your territory, you can transform into a squid and swim under the ink you have sprayed. The ink also acts as your gun. The enemy can ink over your territory and stop you from swimming and will slow you down once your in there ink. This could be a really fun game. On the mini map, you can see where your opponent has ‘inked’ and where they are, and this is all in real time. So you can see exactly what your enemies are doing. This can be really good for strategies. Also if your teammate is on the other side of the Mini map and needs your help, you can click on there icon and you will jump across the map to help them out. Literally, you jump across the map.
