18 Things Every Feminist Experiences…

Adibah Iqbal knows all about being a feminist. Because, well… she is one. And being a feminist means she has to endure a lot of pain and hardship.

Yes, we all know that feminists are awesome. And most of us will agree, once you go feminist, there’s no going back, we have to fight patriarchy every time its ugly face appears.  Even when we just want to sit back and relax.

This is a list of things all feminists will experience. If you’re new to the feminist gig, let me prepare you…

1. Every time we watch a mainstream movie…

2. Every time we watch a music video…

3. Asking this question every time you think you’re talking to a sexist…

4. Seeing something like this…

And being like…

5. When hearing a sexist comment, we know how to put them down…

6. Having a strop when you see gender-stereotyped toys…

7. Really wanting to give a street harasser taste of their own medicine…

8. Protecting our sisters from patriarchy like…

9. The pure excitement of finding a fellow feminist…

10. Having a debate on Facebook with someone who is just NOT getting your point…

11. When someone cracks a rape joke, we just be like…

12. When people say men and women are equal now…

13. Being told that women should always get rid of their pubic hair…

14. The feeling you get when you meet a male feminist…

15.  When you get promoted…

16. Wanting to sit every woman down and let them know looks are not everything

17. The pure hate of capitalism and its misogynistic ways

18.  When people start body-shaming in a conversation

Calling all women and men! You must have come across some of these… how did you deal with them? Tweet me anything I’ve missed. @rifemag
